Lanon Baccam is a combat veteran, public servant and son of rural Iowa. He was born and raised in Mt. Pleasant, and at age 17, enlisted in the Iowa National Guard to give back to the state and country that gave him so much.


In the wake of 9/11, Lanon left community college and answered the call to serve his country. As an Iowa National Guardsman, Lanon was activated and deployed to Afghanistan in 2004 as a combat engineer, focusing on explosive demolitions and force protection in and around Kandahar. 


Following his service in the Army, Lanon served in the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) under former Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack. There he worked to support veterans, expand pathways to jobs in the agriculture industry, and promote training and entrepreneurship opportunities for veterans transitioning to careers in agriculture.


As the Democratic nominee in Iowa's Third Congressional District, Lanon is focused on restoring effective representation for Iowa focused on working families. He has spent his life giving back to our communities and is ready to continue to fight for them in Congress.

Contribution rules

  1. I am a U.S. citizen or lawfully admitted permanent resident (i.e., green card holder).
  2. This contribution is made from my own funds, and funds are not being provided to me by another person or entity for the purpose of making this contribution.
  3. I am at least eighteen years old.
  4. I am not a federal contractor.
  5. I am making this contribution with my own personal credit card and not with a corporate or business credit card or a card issued to another person.
Contributions to Baccam Victory Fund will be allocated as follows: The first $3,300 of a contribution from a person and the first $5,000 of a contribution from a multi-candidate PAC will be allocated to Baccam for Iowa for the General Election, and any remaining funds up to $10,000 from a person and $5,000 from a multi-candidate PAC will be allocated to the Iowa Democratic Party. Any contributor may designate his or her contribution for a particular participant by contacting chc02@mchsi.com. The allocation formula above may change if any contributor makes a contribution that, when allocated, would exceed the amount that the contributor may lawfully give to any participant.
