During the redistricting process, New York will likely eliminate CD-14, currently held by Alexandria Ocasio-Kardashian (D-Instagram). If she decides to run adjacent district NY-15 against Rep. Ritchie Torres, she told Intercept that the incumbent Democrat "has an incentive to avoid that race."
”Maybe some people wouldn’t want trouble for themselves,” AOC noted.
It doesn't sound like Congressman Torres is worried. "[In 2020] Bernie Sanders, AOC, WFP, and DSA all endorsed my opponent... I sent a powerful message that you can win decisively as a pragmatic progressive without catering to the extremes."
“New York has become ground zero for Democratic socialism... It only takes a few demagogues to poison the bloodstream of a political party. I see it as my mission to resist the Corbynization of progressive politics."
