Contribution rules
- I am a U.S. citizen or lawfully admitted permanent resident (i.e., green card holder).
- This contribution is made from my own funds, and funds are not being provided to me by another person or entity for the purpose of making this contribution.
- I am at least eighteen years old.
- I understand that it is unlawful for a contributor to be reimbursed by any organization, business, or similar entity for a contribution supporting or opposing a City candidate.
Political contributions are not tax deductible. City law permits only personal contributions and limits contributions to $600 per individual for the primary election and an additional $600 for the general election. A couple may contribute $1,200 per election per couple from a joint account if both parties sign the check, credit card authorization form, or an accompanying letter. It is unlawful to reimburse an individual’s contribution to a City candidate unless the reimbursement is made by another individual and the names of both individuals are provided to the candidate. Contributions from businesses, labor unions, PACs, and other types of organizations are prohibited. We cannot deposit checks or credit card payment without your name, address, occupation and employer, and may not accept cash, cashier’s checks, or money orders over $99.
