Black Feminists Fighting Abortion Bans and Advancing Reproductive Justice

Attacks on abortion access and reproductive justice have been on a steady increase for several years. So far in 2019, we have seen 9 states(Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, and Utah) legislatively ban abortion access. Many places across the country were/are already facing a "Post-Roe" reality, where access to abortion care due to lack of funding, childcare, travel, limited number of clinics, etc make access to healthcare fleeting and near impossible.

However, in the face of tremendous odds, Black feminist leaders in the reproductive justice movement have been organizing, developing leaders, shifting policy, and creating culture to not only fight restrictive and dangerous abortion bans but to advance and sustain a reproductive justice for their bodies, their communities, and their futures. Black feminist leaders have been on the frontlines in most of these states often with limited media coverage, resources, or amplification of their important work.

As more people are energized in showing their support for abortion access, it is vital to amplify the leaders and organizations who are on the frontlines; Black feminists who have been tirelessly working to ensure abortion access and reproductive justice will be realized in their state. These leaders and organizations have been doing this work for many years and will continue to organizing and build power in their communities no matter what any court decides! With your donation, you can support Black-led reproductive justice projects who are fighting against abortion bans and advancing reproductive justice in each state. You can give to organizations who are employing a variety of necessary strategies and issues to fight against these bans such as abortion funds, sexual health groups, LGBT leadership development, organizing groups, etc.

Support Black feminist leaders as they continue to fight for abortion access and reproductive justice for us all!
