We are thrilled to invite you to donate to the Second Annual Black is Beautiful Gala and Fundraiser, an inspiring event hosted by Healing Justice Santa Barbara, a dedicated local nonprofit committed to uplifting and creating safe spaces for the Black/African American community in Santa Barbara County. This year’s gala, themed "Black/African American Beauty and Culture Throughout the Decades," promises to be a celebration of the extraordinary cultural contributions that Black/African American individuals have made to our nation’s history and heritage.

The event will help raise funds to support Black-led organizations and initiatives to help re-imagine our collective investment in community care. This year we will raise funds for General Operating costs for HJSB, the Sojourner Kincaid Rolle Youth Artivism Scholarship Fund, and the Black Community Emergency Needs Fund. Below you will find information about each on of these initiatives and why they are important for us to uplift.

Sojourner Kincaid Rolle Youth Scholarship Fund - Goal: $10,000

  1. With the recent ending of Affirmative Action by the Supreme court, and college tuition continuing to be a barrier to access higher-education for underserved and underrepresented youth. Healing Justice Santa Barbara hopes to alleviate some of the stressors that come with paying for college by awarding six Black/African American identifying youth in high school, with scholarships ranging from from $500-$1,200. Scholarships will be awarded at the Gala, and will be presented to youth that participate in our Black Student Alliance program. Youth will be presented with their scholarship awards at the event.

General Operating for Healing Justice SB - Goal: $50,000

  1. As HJSB continues to grow in size, we are eager to expand our services and offerings throughout Santa Barbara County. Help us raise money for general operating expenses so that we can expand our Black Student Alliance to more cities, and school districts. Black youth and their families are in need of culturally responsive services and programming that they can access for free.

Black Community Emergency Fund - Goal: $20,000

  1. Raising funds for Healing Justice Santa Barbara’s Black Community Emergency Fund is crucial in addressing the financial barriers that disproportionately impact Black individuals and families. This fund plays a vital role in eliminating obstacles related to housing, education, transportation, health, and other essential needs. By providing immediate financial support, we help alleviate the strain on those facing unexpected crises, ensuring they can maintain stability and access critical resources.
