Shayne Bilbrey

Help Shayne Get Elected to County Commission

Shayne is not a career politician, and nor is he someone who wants to get elected to do nothing for the next 30 years. Shayne is not running for this office to be a rubber stamp, but as someone who can advocate for you and your family.

He’s not running to be a caretaker, but as someone who will work to actually improve the lives of the people in District 3. It's time for our elected Commissioners to fight for us, and not to just be a rubber stamp. It's important that we elect a Commissioner who will listen to YOUR concerns and not to special interests.

Shayne's priorities are:

  • Fund and prioritize renovating the facilities, parking, landscaping, and ball fields at Jere Whitson Park;
  • Improve accessibility to Jere Whitson Elementary and to work with the school system on a plan to increase student capacity and to look at potential renovations to the school;
  • Prioritize increasing funding to our Public School System and to promote after school learning opportunities for at risk youth;
  • Advocating for the City of Cookeville and Putnam County to work jointly in building sidewalks and bike lanes along the 12th Street and North Willow Ave Corridors, increase sidewalk and bike access in and around Jere Whitson Elementary, and increase sidewalk and bike access along Mississippi Ave from 12th to Jere Whitson Park;
  • Provide property tax incentives for to encourage the building of new housing;
  • Provide economic tax incentives to support the development of locally owned small businesses;
  • Work with the County Sherriff's department to employee mental health professionals to help respond, alongside deputies, to when people are in crisis and are in need of a mental health specialist;
  • Promote the use of Public Transit, and to increase UCHRA Public Transit frequencies that promotes alternative forms of transportation; and
  • Provide oversight on the County's financial decisions and to not be a rubber stamp for saying yes on budget items.

It’s time for change, and it’s time to elect a new Commissioner who will lead us forward and will not to just keep the status quo. It's time to elect a fighter and a man who will represent everyone.

Come this May and August, vote Shayne Bilbrey for Putnam County Commissioner for District 3!
