Black Girl Builders is an initiative committed to holding space and building capacity for care and community that centers the needs of Black women and girls. BGB will work in collaboration with young people to give them the tools that are necessary for personal development and self-advocacy. BGB has a goal of serving 250 girls in the Charlottesville community by the end of 2023. These offerings will include mutual/direct aid, mentorship, and mental health resources for Black girls and gender expansive youth in Charlottesville.
Our WHY
In the wake of the rise in violence in the Charlottesville community, BGB is an initiative created to fill in the gap of advocating for prevention and empowerment. The work of prioritizing the agency, wellness, and overall liberation of Black women and girls is foundational for social justice organizing and leadership work. Black women and young people have always been at the forefront of our most pressing and progressive movements, so investing in this demographic is a direct investment into the entire community.
Donations are processed by Congregate Charlottesville as fiscal sponsor and will go directly to Black Girl Builders.
