United Working Families

Build Black Worker Power in the Midwest!

United Working Families (UWF) is a people-powered, Illinois-based independent political organization fighting to win back our democracy from the wealthy few. In the aftermath of the Supreme Court ruling on Janus vs. AFSCME, UWF will build the political power of Black workers in the heart of the midwest.

Union Summer interns will be recruited from the rank-and-file of four public sector unions in the heart of Chicago's south side. Over the summer and fall, they will activate voters and lay the foundation for sustained Black worker organizing to revitalize their unions, redefine public safety in communities of color, and reclaim their right to the city.

UWF is funded solely by working people and our organizations. In 2018, we were victorious with a slate of first-time Black and Latinx candidates in the Illinois primaries. We're building the the real political power we need to remake the landscape of possibility, but we can't do it without you. Donate today!
