This year, Philadelphia will elect a new Mayor, and the entire City Council will be up for reelection. And while the majority of Philadelphia voters are Black and brown City, only 2.5% of its businesses are Black-owned. Despite these disparities, there continues to be a disconnect between the voting power of Black people and their pathways to wealth creation and family-sustaining careers.
