2017 is a crucial year for Virginia and Henrico County: control of the Commonwealth's House of Delegates and the Henrico Board of Supervisors are both up for grabs.
Henrico County was named by Politico as one of 25 battleground counties to watch nationwide, and FiveThirtyEight recently noted that Henrico county has become winnable for Democrats. A Republican landslide in 1988, Henrico was a Democratic landslide in 2016.
