Blue Light Special - State Legislatures in 2026

Was anyone else told they were bought on a blue light special at KMart as a kid? : r/GenXBack in the day, Kmart’s blue light specials came with a flashing light that signaled an unusually good deal in the store. This year, the blue light special is state legislative races! Control of legislatures and governors’ offices decides who sets the rules in the states. A potential Democratic wave could deliver single-party government in Arizona, Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

In these states, just one swing congressional race raises enough money to fund every single competitive legislative race. These are races decided by a few thousand votes, so your donation does far more than a Congressional campaign that’s already awash in cash.

Using voting data, funding history, and each chamber's needs, Third Mountain Action has identified eight key candidates in seats on the cusp of changing control.

Third Mountain Action is spreading Vote Maximizer’s data-driven approach far and wide. Give to us - recurring is better. Help us empower voters in 2026, and rebuild democracy and science in 2027 and beyond!
