Are you ready for Democrats to win the midterm elections?
Let’s motivate our community to turn out and vote in the Democratic March Primary—so we’re energized, organized, and ready to win in November.
Join us for the 2026 Primary Blue Run on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. Grab your family and friends, wear your favorite blue, and show your support for Democratic candidates as we walk or run the scenic path around Elmendorf Lake.
This is a FUN event! Along the route, you’ll find stations with fun and friendly challenges where participants can earn small prizes. T-shirts and snacks are included, and the entry fee is $35 per person.
Most importantly, this event is about coming together to build momentum and get our voters to the polls for the March 3rd Primary Election. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet some of our candidates and connect with fellow supporters.
Let’s run. Let’s walk. Let’s vote.
RUNNERS - You will run, or walk, along the path of Elmendorf Lake with beautiful views of the water and the gothic architecture of Our Lady of the Lake University. You will also encounter optional mini-challenges along your path that are sponsored by your Democratic Primary Candidates. It’s a great way to learn about your candidates and challenge yourself with a fun activity. And at the end of 3 laps around the lake, you’ll get a medal! When it’s over, head to the polls and vote for your favorite candidates!
CANDIDATES -
Option 1: Hydration Station (maximum of 4 stations) - Set up a booth with food items to keep the runners energized. You can add promotional labels to each item you pass out. Food items to consider are small water bottles, orange slices, banana halves, energy bars, etc. (Please provide your own recycling area for the plastic bottles.)
Option 2: Mini-Challenge Booth - Create a fun physical challenge for the runners with a small prize after completion of the activity. This type of booth will most likely keep the participants at your space for a longer period of time, which is what you want! Just make it physical, and make it fun! Ideas for challenges could be…
· Races - such as running while carrying an egg on a spoon, keep a chart with the best times for everyone to see
· Hula Hoop challenge - Participants have to keep the hula hoop going for a certain amount of time.
· Dancing - Participants have to dance for a specific amount of time to a cumbia, the twist, the cotton-eye joe, etc.
· Step-Ups - Use the old aerobics steps and play music to guide participants in their step-ups.
· Small prizes - You can make them promotional, but it’s not necessary. They can be pens, stickers/buttons, stress balls, bead necklaces, cups, key chains, sunglasses, friendship bracelets, plastic rings, etc., but no one will stop you if you decide to give away TVs! Even creating an imaginative photo-op would be a good prize for runners.
* A final reminder to keep your area clean when the event is over. The park trash cans may not be enough to hold our trash, so bringing a few extra trash bags with you would be a good idea. As Democrats, we are the best at taking care of our environment, and that most definitely applies to our San Antonio Parks!
