Lucy McBath for Congress

In 2012, Lucy McBath’s son, Jordan Davis, was murdered over a dispute about his loud music. Lucy channeled her grief into gun control advocacy, and went on to help found Mothers of the Movement. After Trump was elected and began dismantling gun control measures, McBath decided to run for Congress, scoring a narrow 1% victory to claim Newt Gingrich’s old seat.

Lucy McBath has been an effective Congresswoman. She wrote and passed the HAVEN Act, which was signed into law by President Trump. Her opponent, Karen Handel, was the original architect of Georgia’s notorious vote suppression scheme, purging thousands of voters to stop Barack Obama from winning the state in 2008.
