Shortly after Jared turning 19, the United States was attacked on 9/11. In response, he dropped out of college and joined the marines, spending four years fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. These days, he is using that experience to help guide the House Armed Services Committee. He is also working in Congress to get universal paid family leave and a Medicare public option.
Jared’s victory in 2018 was one of the biggest upsets in the blue wave. He took down a two-term incumbent who had won the seat by 10 points just two years earlier. Jared actually got less votes than his Republican opponent in 2018, but won anyway through the miracle of ranked-choice voting. All this puts a huge target on Jared's back. It’s going to be a tough re-election battle, but he's ready to fight.
