About Jared
Jared is an engineer and lawyer but, in the community, he is known as the owner of K&B True Value, a hardware store in Annapolis. Jared served on Annapolis’s City Council representing Ward 5 from 2013-2017 and chaired the Environmental Matters Committee and was a member of the Housing and Human Welfare Committee. As Alderman, he was proud to lead the Council on key legislation to protect the environment, prevent overcrowding in our schools, and provided diverse communities with improved access to city services through the creation of the African American and Hispanic Liaison positions.
Since his time on the City Council, Jared has continued his public service on: the Caucus of African American Leaders as a committee member of the Sponsorship Subcommittee; the Trial Board of Anne Arundel County (part of the Police Accountability Board); the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Resiliency Authority as a Director and the Treasurer; and the City of Annapolis as the Chair of the Ward Boundary and Redistricting Task Force.
Jared also spent several years serving on the national True Value Hardware board. This experience allowed him a valuable private sector view into budgeting and best management practices for the chain’s 4,500 stores. If elected, Jared plans to govern with a customer-focused approach with a strategy to build a government that is focused on finding solutions.
