Dear Neighbors,

My name is Bobby King. I’m running for Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner for the 4C02 Single Member District.

I chose to run because in the time we are living, I cannot just sit on the sidelines. While speaking to neighbors, I heard their concerns because of the lacking outreach. This can not be acceptable. As ANC, I will provide our community with an accessible, accountable, and proactive representative.

I grew up on 13th and Gallatin. My father is from North Carolina and my mother is from Sierra Leone. Both instilled a profound sense of community service, and a deep appreciation for cultural diversity, which shapes my eagerness in serving our community. I plan to put my knowledge of political science and my understanding of policy to ensure our voices are not only represented but amplified.

I believe we must support small businesses within the community, advocate for affordable housing, assist in efforts to curtail violence within our community, and ensure our entire community is both heard and informed of actions undertaken by our ANC.

In beginning to fulfill these priorities, I made it my goal to knock on every door in ANC 4C02 while honoring social distancing recommendations. I want everyone to see my covered face, and know they will have no issue in reaching me. I was grateful to listen to my neighbor's concerns. However, this is only the first step.

I'm fundraising to increase my visibility. These fundraising efforts will go into creating campaign paraphernalia such as yard signs and flyers to be distributed around our single member district. Any funds that I do not spend will go to a nonprofit (501c)
