Bob Lorinser

Bob's Beginnings

I grew up in a lower working-class family in rural America.

My family didn't have much. My parents worked two jobs to stay afloat, but they filled our home with love, laughter, and hope for a better day. Like many families in Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, we made it work with grit, tenacity, and perseverance.

I found my calling as a family doctor. My work has focused on caring for economically disadvantaged patients like me. I have advocated for change in our broken healthcare system for 40 years.

I'm dedicated to serving the underserved, including veterans with PTSD, children with behavioral health issues, our Native communities, seniors, and Medicaid recipients.

It's been the most incredible honor of my life to provide healthcare to the most resilient people on the planet — Yoopers and Northern Michiganders.

I then expanded my service globally, serving my country for ten years as a US diplomat.

But I am not done giving back. I want to continue serving others. That's why I'm on this journey to Congress.

I have been a champion for the working class throughout my entire life. I worked my way from community college to earning three advanced degrees.

And despite being born on the other side of the tracks, I found success, and I want to ensure the next generation can do the same.

Because my story is improbable in today's economy.

Many people struggle paycheck to paycheck, unable to afford healthcare, childcare, and post-secondary education. Citizens are burdened with insurmountable medical and student debt. Our children are facing a mental health crisis, and a severe lack of affordable housing.

Now more than ever, we need principled leaders who can cut through divisions, roll up their sleeves, and get to work.

I am running for Congress to provide the same opportunities I was given as a child. I am running to be the leader I needed growing up.

Every citizen in Northern Michigan, the Upper Peninsula, and all across rural America deserves not just to survive, but to truly thrive.

Many politicians claim they want to be your voice in Washington. Hardworking rural Michiganders already have a voice of their own. They need a listener. And I've heard those voices loud and clear my entire life. I want to elevate and carry them with me as we embark on this journey to Washington together.

Together, united, standing shoulder to shoulder, we can move Michigan's 1st district forward.
