Today, and for the last year, Band of Brotherz Gang Intervention and Prevention INC is building support on the streets and in classrooms. We have worked with individuals to change the narrative of gang affiliation by working in schools, in electoral politics, and our community in the Capital District. Our hunger for peace during these times comes with some harsh realities about what it will take to "stop the violence".
Murder is passion mixed with pain. We have to address the souls of the youth who commit these crimes and recognize them as human beings in our words and in our actions if we are ever going to get to a place where we have the cultural competency to deal with our emotions in healthier ways. We recognize our responsibility to our community and urge everyone that lives in urban communities (the hood) to call their family, especially the youth, and let them know that they are loved. We can break the cycle by putting ourselves in the way of violence and embracing responsibility, but we are only going to get there by working together, as a community.
All donations are in support of growing and establishing our gang intervention program throughout Albany County Schools. We are a resource for anyone affiliated with gangs and have the experience of supporting members who make the transition.
