For the past month, Jewish college students all over the country have been making a simple demand of Birthright — confront the crisis of the Occupation.
To no one’s surprise, Birthright has met these demands with silence. As the silence grows, college students prepared to take their demand straight to the source. So on April 5th, hundreds of young Jews converged at Birthright’s headquarters in New York City and give them one last chance to choose, #UsOrTheDonors.
Birthright's response: have fifteen Jewish college students arrested. Birthright has made their decision, now students are making theirs — it's time to #BreakUpWithBirthright.
A free trip that gags us from mentioning the occupation is not a gift - it’s a bribe that Jewish youth are no longer willing to take.
We're calling on Jewish students, young Jews, and Jewish institutions around the country to #BreakUpWithBirthright. For too long Birthright has hidden the Occupation from our generation and attempted to define our Jewish identity as one that supports Israel no matter what.
We're building a New Jewish Future, one that is joyous, liberated and demands freedom and dignity for all Israelis and Palestinians. The first step towards that future is breaking up with Birthright.
Will you contribute to supporting the movement working to create a Jewish future that no longer hides the Occupation?
