I am running to serve as the Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner for the newly zoned Single Member District 4C05 because I love my community and want to make Petworth and the greater Grant Circle area safe and vibrant for all who live and work there.
I have lived on the 700 block of Webster St NW with my husband, Justin, since we bought our house in May 2014. We have two children—Leo (2.5 years) and Luca (9 months), plus our dachshund Otto. For the past two years, I have led Petworth Peanuts, a free new parents group open to all neighborhood residents, and am now on the board as Vice President. I have worked extensively to help support groups of new local parents by volunteering to lead new cohorts, organizing weekly speakers, and providing educational resources. I have also collaborated with local businesses and residents to organize big new neighborhood events for Petworth families, including the annual Halloween Spooktacular, Pride in the Park, and Miracle on Upshur Street.
If elected, my top priorities as a Commissioner will include:
Since January 2010, I have been both a DC resident and a public servant working for the federal government, to include a warzone deployment in Afghanistan. Additionally, I served as the President of the North Columbia Heights Civic Association from 2012-2014, where I worked with local residents, ANC Commissioners, and the Ward 1 Councilmember to help save the Columbia Heights Dog Park. In this capacity, I also regularly organized community clean-ups, supported new local businesses, and held an At-Large Council Candidate Forum and a Ward 1 Council Candidate Debate to allow for local residents to meet and ask questions of these candidates.
Your contribution will assist me in reaching out and communicating my campaign message to the 2,000 residents who live in 4C05! The maximum contribution level is $25.
