I am running for the Office of Sheriff of Perry County on the Democratic ticket in the 2026 election and I am respectfully asking for your support.
I would like to tell you a little bit about myself and my career. I have resided in Perry County all my life. I graduated from Tell City High School in 1997 and attended Indiana State University, studying Criminology. I am the son of Dan and Cathy Hammack, and I am married to Kristinia (Kris) Hammack, who is currently serving as your Perry County Auditor. Kris and I were blessed with 3 sons, Zachary James, 27; Coy Daniel, 21; and Brady Jefferson, 16. Zachary and his wife, Meredith, live here in Perry County with our 20-month-old grandson, Wylder James. Zachary is a Probation/Parole Officer in Daviess County, Kentucky and Meredith is a Teacher at William Tell Elementary School. Coy is a junior at Notre Dame University, currently studying History and Psychology, with plans to attend law school after graduation. Brady is a sophomore at Tell City Jr./Sr. High School and is active in extracurricular activities such as football and golf.
I have currently been employed with Tell City Police Department since 2004. During my time there I have had experience as a Reserve Officer, Patrol Officer, K9 decoy, Indiana Law Enforcement Academy General Instructor, Indiana Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor, Evidence Officer, Detective, Lieutenant, and Administrator. I am also a volunteer firefighter, Perry County Rescue member, and a graduate of Leadership Perry County.
It is my belief that these experiences qualify me for this position, and I again am asking for your help and support in this upcoming 2026 election.
In my efforts to serve as Perry County’s next Sheriff, I need your help. With your contribution, I will be able to effectively campaign for continued progress.
I look forward to serving as your next Perry County Sheriff.
