About the Campaign:
Break the Chain is mobilizing for an arms embargo in the NY and NJ area. Weapons are regularly stored and transported through Port Elizabeth, NJ, JFK, LGA via supply chain companies such as Maersk, ZIM, and more. Our mission is to educate both community and union members, and activate them in actions around the city, putting pressure on these complicit corporations and our politicians that allow this to continue. We’re working directly with the DSA National Labor for Arms Embargo campaign to mobilize local labor through union training events for passing an arms embargo resolution in their locals, which is the first step in building long term cultural influence to end the transport and storage of weapons headed for the Middle East. One of the goals is to pressure our local government to pass arms embargo resolutions. By educating community and union members through tabling, picketing, and events, we will be applying pressure at all points to create long term change.
