The opportunity gap that our students face every day has just become exponentially bigger.
We have just learned that schools will be closed for the rest of the academic year. This means that our students will spend more than half of this semester learning at home, with minimal support.
You, our Breakthrough community, have always stepped up to close the opportunity gap and, in this extraordinary moment we know that you’ll stand with our students.
This is a defining moment and we are calling on you for support. School closures and “shelter in place” bring real risks for the low-income families we serve, and we have learned that the reality for our Breakthrough families is stark.
School closures does not mean Breakthrough is slowing down. In fact, the opposite - we are gearing up to meet this moment with innovative, creative, and continuous support.
