Black Women for a Better Education

Black Women for a Better Education PAC

We are a grassroots collective of Black women who demand a better education for Pittsburgh's children. Our PAC:

  • Endorses and supports the campaigns of select candidates for the Pittsburgh Public Schools Board of Directors, and other elected officials who are willing to speak boldly about the need to improve educational outcomes for Black children in this region
  • Increases awareness of issues in public education

Become a Coalition Member today with a contribution of $40/month

Help ensure that common-sense solutions for children, especially Black children, prevail in the Pittsburgh region. As a volunteer-led organization, we rely fully on the support of dues-paying members so we can pay organizers a respectable wage and empower our endorsed candidates to win by financially supporting their campaigns.

Membership Benefits

  • Endorse and support the campaigns of select candidates for the Pittsburgh Public Schools Board of Directors, and other elected officials who are willing to speak boldly about the need to improve educational outcomes for Black children in this region
  • Become more aware of issues in public education and ways you can advocate
  • Engage with PPS school board members and other elected officials about important educational issues

Are there other membership levels?

Donations of any amount are accepted. If the $40/month Coalition Membership doesn’t match your budget consider these alternatives:

I can do more! Investors contribute $1,000+/year because they are committed to the work of the Political Action Committee, support Black women in leadership and invest in Black-led organizations in the Pittsburgh region.

Base Members contribute $25/month because they believe in the work and care about children in this region but can’t commit to the Coalition Membership at this time.

Pay-what-you-can Black Woman Membership exists because we believe it’s important to elevate the voices of Black women. We know times are hard (and wage disparities based on race and gender are real), so sign up for a contribution that fits your budget knowing that your voice, vote, and involvement is essential in fighting for Black children. This membership level is reserved for Black women.

Can non-Black people join?

Absolutely. The PAC welcomes non-Black allies. Please join us, and know that your contributions and support are important, but that the voices of Black women will always be centered and prioritized in our work.
