Alderman Byron Sigcho Lopez is running for Congress to ensure the voters of IL-04's congressional district have a candidate who will stand up and fight for working people's interests every day, just as he did when he was a teacher, and then as 25th Ward Alderperson since 2019.
As our Congressman, Byron will fight for Medicare for All, and safety for all people by making housing a guaranteed human right. He will fight to end the military industrial complex and the genocide in Gaza. Byron will stand with workers to have a right to organize and bargain, to pass the PRO Act, for civil and human rights for all people, for an end to the war on immigrants, and dignity for LGBTQ+ community members, veterans, seniors, and all vulnerable communities. As a father of three, Byron is committed to ending violence against young people in our country by organizing with the people directly impacted by our national failures to date to change gun laws and deeply invest in wrap around services to families and individuals experiencing instability and mental health challenges. Byron recognizes that none of us are safe, until all of us are safe. He supports taxing the billionaires out of existence and repurposing those funds towards investing in the education of our communities, expanding public transit access and safety, and expanding federal agencies decimated by President Trump like the EPA, OSHA, FDA, FAA, VA, NIH, Department of Education, NPS, and so many more. Byron will fight for a clean energy future that addresses the climate disaster as the emergency that it is, while investing in economic dignity and revitalization for the working class.
