Sustaining the movement.
In 2014 I won a year long campaign decisively, with a 22 point margin, to become the first African-American woman to represent Champaign-Urbana because of the hard work and dedication of hundreds of volunteer and donors.
The reason my campaign was so victorious was because it was more than a campaign, it was the beginning of a movement, a movement to make progressive, independent democratic politics a driving force in our state and country.
