We are in uncertain times. The danger Trump poses to our institutions of self-government cannot be overstated. Regardless if he wins, the political deadlock at the federal level makes effective state government all the more critical to confronting the issues of the day.

Chief among those issues is social disintegration and polarization. Disagreement is healthy; demonizing is not. We cannot address our demographic crisis, climate destabilization, education finance, health care, and so on, without starting from shared values and listening respectfully to each other.

If reelected I pledge to work even harder to engage with the spectrum of opinion, to learn from others, and to work to create the conditions for present and future prosperity for all, leaving no one behind.
