Jess Hanson

Re-Elect Jess Hanson, the Cannabis Champion at the state Capitol

High there! I'm Jess, and I am a consumer who got elected to the MN House in 2020 for many reasons including to legalize cannabis. And now, I need your help so I can keep fighting for cannabis businesses and consumers statewide.

Can you contribute to my campaign and send me back to St Paul? Donations of all sizes are meaningful to me! My average online donation is just $54, so I do not need much from everyone to meet my goal. Any amount meaningful you is meaningful to me! I also will refund a donation if you fall on hard times, because we've all been there!

Did you know that you can get up to $75 of your donation refunded to you through the Political Contribution Refund program! You can learn more about that here.

Here is a little about me:

  1. I have been a consumer for over 25 years, and I was a grassroots advocate before I ran for office in 2020.
  2. I was among the top 5 authors of the first ever bill that passed through the House in my freshman term and gave this speech on the house floor.
  3. I have served on every cannabis conference committee we've convened including when we passed the infamous HF100 2023 legalization bill that ended prohibition on 8/1/2023. My comments at the end of the floor debate are here.
  4. I carried and passed the caregiver program so more people with disabilities can get access to home grown cannabis. That presentation can be viewed here.
  5. I am now the lead on cannabis in the House as of 2026 where I successfully fought for small cannabis businesses as MSOs attempted to monopolize the industry. I elimimated some of the red tape businesses have encountered, expanded opportunities and access to medical products, uplifted low dose hemp businesses that are under attack from the federal government, and I right sized licenses to ensure our industry is more fair for small, craft operators.

At my core, I'm a weed girlie, and I am dedicated to fighting for us. I am seeking re-election this year, and I need your help! I have fought for and defended our community in St. Paul for over 6 years, and I was on the frontlines with the amazing Chairs Stephenson and Port the whole way to build the best model for full legalization in the nation.

Our next steps will be to continue to defend our community from any undoing of legalization, to protect businesses and consumers from lingering discrimination, and to continue to expand our market to include consumption lounges, ancillary businesses, new ideas and concepts, and much more. We have to continue to grow our laws as our industry grows, and I need you by my side to do that.

To continue this work, I have to get re-elected, and it takes money to win. Can I count on you to help me keep fighting for us in St. Paul?

Thank you for supporting me so I can fight for something that is so important to so many of us! I can't do this without you, and I am forever humbled and grateful to have the privilege to fight for our community in St. Paul!
