I am the son of African refugees who came to this country over thirty-five years ago seeking a better life for themselves and one day for their children. They found that better life and a home to raise me and my sister right here in Colorado. As hardworking immigrants, my parents never forgot or took for granted the freedom and opportunities the United States gave them and their children.
In 2018, I was proud to be the first African American Congressperson elected in Colorado. I have spent the last decade of my life fighting to expand opportunities for people. I fought for accessible higher education as a University Regent, I founded a nonprofit to stand up for voting rights and protect everyone’s sacred right to participate in our democracy, and over the last two years running Colorado’s consumer protection agency, I ensured that everyone is treated fairly under the law.
Thank you for all of the support so far.
