California Donor Table and Voices for Progress Support Abigail Medina to Flip SD23!

We need more progressive Democratic state legislators to pass legislation in Sacramento to protect our climate and democracy while ensuring social and economic justice, and who reflect California's gender and racial diversity. That’s why California Donor Table and Voices for Progress are supporting Abigail Medina in the 2020 primary election for State Senate District 23.

Medina is a queer Latina. She serves as San Bernardino School Board President and Executive Director of the Inland Region Equality Network, and is a board member of Center for Community Action and Environmental Justice and an advisor to California Donor Table partners Inland Empowerment and Inland Empire United. She champions an intersectional progressive agenda, including environmental protections, educational improvement, racial equity, and LGBTQIA rights, and works to elect other women of color to office in the region. Medina is also endorsed by the Latino Legislative Caucus, LGBTQ Legislative Caucus, CDT- and V4P-endorsed Senator Maria Elena Durazo and Assemblymember Lorena Gonzalez and several local elected officials. California Donor Table partner PowerPAC is directly supporting her campaign, and Inland Empire United has endorsed her and will be turning out new majority voters in the district.

California Donor Table and Voices for Progress previously endorsed Medina when she challenged Republican incumbent Marc Steinorth in State Assembly District 40 in 2016, and she came within 1.3% of winning. AD40 overlaps with half of the SD23 district. For this 2020 effort to flip a Republican district, she faces three Republicans and two other Democrats, the most competitive of whom runs a data technology company that works with the oil, defense, and intelligence industries and has the support of powerful interests. SD23 will be a competitive primary race in this “Lean Republican” district, and we need to ensure that this progressive Democrat makes it through the primary and general elections.

Please join us in supporting Abigail Medina! We hope you will give to her campaign at a level that is significant for you. $4,700 is the maximum allowable contribution per person for the primary.
