Contest Every Race - Medical Debt Relief Fund

Medical Debt Relief

Across the country our hardworking neighbors are facing a tough reality: everything costs more, and it’s getting harder to keep up. When a medical emergency hits, it can shatter a family’s financial stability. No one should ever face bankruptcy or ruin just because they or a loved one got sick or hurt. That’s just wrong.

We have a powerful, common-sense solution to directly help people. By working with our trusted partners, contributors can relieve crippling medical debt for pennies on the dollar and completely erase it from families’ lives. This is an investment in our community's well-being and economic recovery.

Medical debt burdens millions of Americans and totals nearly $500 billion nationwide. No one should go into debt simply because they needed healthcare.

That's why we're partnering with Democratic county parties across the country to do something tangible: raise money locally to relieve medical debt for neighbors in need in your state.

Here's how it works:

  • County Democratic parties raise funds in their communities.
  • Contest Every Race matches those donations
  • Our nonprofit partner purchases and forgives qualifying medical debt anonymously for families across that state.

It's real relief for real people, and proof that local Democrats are showing up to improve their communities, not just during election season, but all year long.

Beyond helping families, this program demonstrates what effective community leadership looks like. As voters continue to rank affordability among their top concerns, Democrats have an opportunity to show, not just say, that we're committed to making life better for working families.

Imagine the relief: our neighbors, who are working hard but struggling to get by, will receive a life-changing notification that their debt is gone.

No hidden fees, no strings attached – just a genuine fresh start. This is about helping our neighbors breathe easier and get back on their feet.
