The California statehouse has edged perilously close to losing ALL its Black women serving in the State Legislature. We need a fuller bench.


There is no equal representation without Black women in robust numbers, and there is no justice without a progressive values commitment. We have to bring an intersectional lens to closing the gender gap.


That's why Close the Gap California’s recruiting strategy is more important than ever. We need a robust pipeline of diverse, progressive women ready to fill open seats as soon as they come available in order to win big in the Motherlode cycles from 2022-2028 and achieve gender balance in the California Legislature by 2028.

Contribution rules

  1. I am a U.S. citizen or lawfully admitted permanent resident (i.e., green card holder).
  2. This contribution is made from my own funds, and funds are not being provided to me by another person or entity for the purpose of making this contribution.
  3. I am at least eighteen years old.
Federal tax law requires us to publicly report cumulative contributions of $200 or more. We may not deposit your contribution without your name, occupation and employer, and may not accept contributions of $100 or more made in cash. Contributions to close the gap CA are not tax deductible. Close the Gap CA is a registered 527 organization. Close the Gap CA is not a political action committee and does not make campaign expenditures or contributions to candidates.
