Chicago Iftar Series: Building New Futures

Tuesday, March 3rd, 5:00-7:00pm

Pak Sweets, Devon Avenue

Thursday, March 5th, 5:00-7:00pm

Nabala Cafe, North Broadway

This Ramadan, join Muslims for Just Futures Chicago for the launch of our new Capital for Just Futures program.

This Ramadan, we are moving our dollars into our local communities.

Over the past several months, small and community-owned businesses have faced significant hardship due to immigration enforcement and federal occupations. From Devon Avenue to immigrant neighborhoods across Chicago, business owners report sharp drops in customers and revenue.

At Muslims for Just Futures (MJF) Chicago, we are using this Ramadan as an opportunity to intentionally support local businesses. In Chicago, we will host two conversation-centered iftars where we will gather to break bread, build together, and share our new MJF Business Hub Resource Guide.

All proceeds from iftar ticket sales will directly support local, community-owned businesses in Chicago.

Please note: each iftar can only accommodate up to 18-20 people.

Please register for either iftar #1 or iftar #2. While we are offering them for free, if you are able to, we encourage you to make contributions so MJF can support/resource local businesses as part of our Capital for Just Futures program.

"Ethical entrepreneurship is deeply rooted in our tradition; it is an invaluable service to humanity and a pathway to building collective wealth." But what happens when divestment drains our neighborhoods, and immigration raids destabilize working-class families?

Together, we will explore:

  • How can we invest in our community’s ability to build capital power and shape stronger economic futures?
  • What is the economic impact of state violence on our communities?
  • How can we mobilize our resources to protect and strengthen our neighborhoods?

Join us this Ramadan as we build, invest, and imagine just futures together.

Let's make some collective investments as a community for the next 25 years – will you join us to break fast and fund liberatory futures?
