For months, our allies at The Workers Circle have been organizing a weekly, Sunday vigil outside of Alligator Alcatraz, bringing hope, light, and song to those detained inside in inhumane conditions.
Relatives of detained individuals have come to the vigils, to be as close to their loved ones as they can. Ninety-year-olds with walkers and wheelchairs come every weekend. Everyday people, activists, and faith leaders come week after week to shine a spotlight on ICE’s abuses.
Together, we’re letting those inhumanely detained know that they are loved. They are not forgotten. And we will never give up until we end ICE’s illegal abuses.
In order to keep up the momentum, The Workers Circle has been renting buses every weekend, bringing people from across the state of Florida. And after ICE’s killing of Renee Good, they rented four buses, bringing people to the Everglades from Miami, Ft. Myers, and beyond.
CHN is helping people send hundreds of thousands of messages to Congress to rein in ICE, as well as promoting rallies and now supporting the Alligator Alcatraz vigils.
Split a donation between the Coalition on Human Needs and The Workers Circle today to fund the weekly vigil buses to Alligator Alcatraz and let ICE detainees know that we will not look away.
