Experience matters. That is why Cecil Thomas is running to serve his fellow Ohioans in the Statehouse: to use his
experience to ensure our region gets its fair share from Columbus.
“I am running for State Representative to continue the fight and ensure the voices of my fellow Ohioans are heard loud and clear. We must return the Statehouse to being the People’s House.” - Cecil Thomas
Rep. Thomas is in his second term as a State Representative. Prior to serving in the House, Rep. Thomas was to the Senate in 2014 and 2018. Rep. Thomas also served as a Cincinnati City Councilman. A leader in the wake of the 2001 race riots, Rep. Thomas was integral to the passing of Cincinnati’s historic Collaborative Agreement as the Executive Director of the Cincinnati Human Relations Commission. Prior to that, Rep. Thomas served as a member of the Cincinnati Police Department for 27 years. As an officer, Rep. Thomas led the effort to fight back against racial and sexist discrimination within the department. Because of his leadership, the department reformed its hiring and advancement policies, and is still under two federal consent decrees to continue to do so.
