Sam Cogen is currently serving in his first term as your Baltimore City Sheriff. Prior to this, Sam worked for the Baltimore City Sheriff's Office for 25 years, where he gained the experience and belief that under the right leadership, the office could do more to make our City a safer, more liveable place. Sam made his case to the people in 2022, and was honored to have been elected by the voters to bring his vision of change to the office.

In his first two years, Sam has transformed the office’s mission, bringing his community-driven public service vision to the proud history of the Sheriff's office. Focusing on constitutional police work, humanizing the evictions process, and an expanded commitment to listening to our communities and responding directly to their requests and ideas, Sam is proud of the increased positive impact the Sheriff’s Office is making for our City.
