Once, when I was about 9, there was a field fire at our neighbor’s. As my grandfather and I took off towards the smoke, I asked why we were going to help instead of just waiting for the fire department, I remember him saying, "Neighbors help neighbors."

I'm running for the Texas Senate in the 24th district of Texas. I can't sit on the sidelines as our healthcare becomes more unaffordable, our wages stagnate, families are separated, & hate-fueled division is on the rise. The current Texas legislature had its chance, but they failed the moment they voted no on Medicaid expansion. It would have cost us nothing to expand Medicaid, but doing nothing is costing lives.
