The state of Virginia holds its elections in odd years, unlike most statehouse elections. And those elections are good barometers of the national mood. Today Climate Hawks Vote is endorsing four climate hawks who will demonstrate to the nation the strength of the climate movement when they win their June 20 primaries.
In the state Senate’s 13th District, Lashrecse Aird is primarying the odious Joe Morrissey. Lashrecse is an environmental justice champion who wrote the bill to declare water a human right. In the House of Delegates’ 2d District, Adele McClure is running a strong campaign on her environmental justice work. In the House of Delegates’ 84th District, Nadarius Clark is running as the youngest person ever elected to the Virginia state legislature. And in the House of Delegates’ new and deep blue 92d District, Kim Sudderth is a community organizer who leads the local NAACP’s Environmental and Climate Justice Policy team.
Early voting has already begun in Virginia. Help these climate hawks win their races!
