Colin Allred is a former civil rights attorney and professional football player. Previously, he served in the Obama Administration as Special Assistant in the Office of the General Counsel at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.


The Council endorsed him in his first successful race in 2018 when he ousted a Republican incumbent. His district includes suburban area of northeastern Dallas County, the kind of area where Democrats made significant gains in 2018.


He currently serves on the House Foreign Affairs, Transportation and Infrastructure, and Veterans’ Affairs committees. There he has been a strong supporter of nuclear arms control and opposes building new, unnecessary and dangerous nuclear weapons.
