Becca Balint is running for Vermont’s at-large House seat being vacated by Rep. Peter Welch, who is running for Vermont’s open Senate seat. Balint is an educator who has taught in public and private schools in New England, as well as at the Community College of Vermont.

Balint was first elected to the Vermont State Senate in 2014. In her second term, she was elected Majority Leader and continued to serve in that role through 2021.

Balint was the first woman and first openly gay person to serve as the Vermont Senate President Pro Tempore in 2021. If elected, Balint would be the first woman and openly queer person to represent Vermont in Congress.

Balint worked hard to pass a minimum wage increase for thousands of low-wage workers, and twice helped to steer a paid family leave bill through the Senate. She also led the caucus through a successful fight for the most progressive reproductive freedom legislation in the nation and worked tirelessly behind the scenes to pass the boldest climate justice bill to date in Vermont.

Balint supports maintaining and expanding diplomatic channels with China to prevent future escalation and human rights abuses, and argues that increasing U.S. defense spending is unnecessary. She is in favor of continuing disarmament dialogue with Russia and supports the United States adopting a "No First Use" policy.
