Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester represents Delaware in the U.S. House of Representatives and serves as an Assistant Whip for House Leadership. She is running for the seat being vacated by Sen. Tom Carper.

Rep. Blunt Rochester grew up in Wilmington. She graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a degree in International Relations and put herself through graduate school as a working mom — earning a master’s degree in Urban Affairs and Public Policy from the University of Delaware.

Rep. Blunt Rochester sits on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. She is a leading voice in Congress on economic and future work-related issues. As former Delaware Secretary of Labor and State Personnel Director, Rep. Blunt Rochester leverages her professional experience to advocate for legislation that boosts start-up business growth and removes barriers for citizens re-entering society. She is also a Co-Chair of the New Democrat Coalition’s Future of Work Task Force and the founder of the Congressional Future of Work Caucus.

Rep. Blunt Rochester has serious concerns with U.S. new nuclear weapons programs, including the SLCM-N and development of a new ICBM. Rep. Blunt Rochester also believes in reformed nuclear weapons policy, such as a “no first use” policy. While Rep. Blunt Rochester believes that Pentagon spending on our national defense is vital, she believes that waste, fraud, abuse, and redundancies must be examined to ensure defense dollars are spent efficiently and appropriately. She is a strong supporter of Ukraine against Russian aggression, and strongly supports additional funding for the Ukrainian war of self-defense as well as robust engagement with our allies.
