Colorado has three key congressional races in 2020. The state has been growing fast and leaning blue in recent years. Hillary Clinton carried the state by five points in 2016, and Democrats have won the last four gubernatorial races and flipped several statewide offices in 2018. But there is still work to be done.

Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO-06), a former U.S. Army Ranger who served three combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, was first elected in 2018. He currently serves on the House Armed Services Committee where he was appointed Vice Chairman of the Intelligence and Emerging Threats and Capabilities Subcommittee, and last year, he voted correctly on all of the key amendments the Council tracked.

Rep. Joe Neguse (D-CO-02), whose parents fled war-torn Eritrea almost 40 years ago, was first elected to Congress in 2018, becoming the first African-American person elected to represent Colorado in Congress. Neguse scored a perfect record on key Council issues in 2019, and is favored to win re-election.

Former Gov. John Hickenlooper (D-CO) is running for Senate against one of the most vulnerable Republicans in the country, Sen. Cory Gardner. As a young man, Hickenlooper was active in both the nuclear freeze movement and anti-Vietnam war demonstrations. He is one of the most popular politicians in Colorado history, has terrific name recognition and is a great fundraiser.

Hickenlooper, Crow and Neguse are all supporters of progressive national security priorities and all reject President Trump’s dangerous nuclear weapons policies. They support extending the New START nuclear arms treaty and oppose a new nuclear warhead for submarines.

They all deserve support as we work to elect a more progressive Congress in November.
