Donate to Council for a Livable World and Chris Coons' reelection campaign
The Council for a Livable World was one of the first national organizations to endorse Senator Coons in his initial election in 2010. He won that race 57%-40%, replacing Senator Ted Kaufman (D), serving in the seat previously held by Vice President Biden. He was re-elected to a full term in 2014 by 56%-42%.
Sen. Coons graduated Amherst College with a B.A. in Chemistry and Political Science and eventually earned advanced degrees from Yale Law School and Yale Divinity School. During his studies, he spent extensive time in South Africa and Kenya and wrote a book on South Africa and the U.S. disinvestment movement.
The Senator has a strong record on Council issues, having voted for the New START agreement, supported the Iran nuclear deal, voted to block U.S. military involvement in Yemen, and supported a war powers measure to limit the President's actions against Iran. He serves on the Foreign Relations and Appropriations committees, including the State and Foreign Operations Appropriations Subcommittee, and prides himself on his record of bipartisanship.
