Donate to Council for a Livable World and Evelyn Farkas' Congressional campaign

Evelyn Farkas, a foreign policy leader in the Executive Branch and Congress, is running for Congress in New York’s Rockland County and parts of Westchester. She faces a multicandidate primary on June 23.

Upon taking office, Farkas will immediately be a national security leader in the next Congress. She ran a congressional commission focused on keeping weapons of mass destruction out of the hands of terrorists. In the Senate, she worked with Senators Carl Levin and Hillary Clinton on security issues. In the Executive Branch, she thrived at the Defense Department and as a professor at the U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College. She is well versed on issues as diverse as North Korea, arms control treaties, Russian and Ukraine.

She earned a Ph.D. from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.

Farkas also earned a stream of vitriol from Fox News, Donald Trump Jr. and the conservative media for being one of the first to raise the alarm about President Trump’s corrupt ties to Russia. These attacks have continued through the campaign.

She has clear advantages as the only viable woman in the race in a district where the primary electorate is 60% women, as the clear national security expert who can have an immediate impact in Congress, having secured the endorsements of many prominent national security officials and having outraised her opponents significantly and consistently in individual contributions.

But she faces a billionaire’s son who has self-funded more than $2 million and several state and local officials. The primary is expected to be close. The winner of the primary is almost sure to be the next Member of Congress in this district.
