You might have missed recent reporting that the odds of Democrats taking control of the Senate have increased to almost 50-50.
This would have myriad effects on progressive national security priorities, such as addressing the threats posed by new nuclear weapons systems; gross overspending on defense; and a criminal misallocation of national security funding.
We're supporting a slate of candidates who can help retake control of the Senate.
Amy McGrath (D-KY) is taking on McConnell, who is also the least popular Senator in the country. McGrath, a decorated former military officer, has been outspoken in support of the Iran nuclear deal, and details her views on North Korea and Iran on her campaign website.
Former governor John Hickenlooper (D-CO) is running against the vulnerable Gardner, in what political experts rate as a toss-up race. Hickenlooper cares deeply about nuclear issues, having joined the nuclear freeze movement in the 1980s.
Sara Gideon (D-ME) is in a close contest against Collins, who clings to her “moderate” label but too often sides with conservatives. Gideon is passionate about arms control, and we know she would be a great ally and advocate for our cause.
Cal Cunningham (D-NC) is polling neck-and-neck against the very vulnerable Tillis, who has a low approval rating in the state. Cunningham is a combat veteran, business leader, lawyer and former legislator. He will be an active supporter of our issues in the Senate.
