The Pennsylvania Senate race is one of the best pickup opportunities for Democrats this cycle. John Fetterman is the only candidate in this race from either party to have already run and won statewide. He is an unconventional candidate who can appeal to rural blue-collar regions, urban areas and the suburbs as well.

Fetterman was the elected Mayor from 2006 to 2019 in Braddock, Penn., a low-income, majority Black small town. He worked hard to build the once-booming steel town back from collapse. In 2018, he won a five-way Democratic primary to be Pennsylvania’s Lieutenant Governor, and a commanding victory in the general election.

On our issues, he views both nuclear weapons and climate change to be existential threats and is committed to promoting responsible policies to reduce the risk of nuclear war and address the climate emergency.

During a Democratic debate, he declared that “what we should be doing is looking for waste, fraud, and excess in our military budget and reinvesting that money in other areas like healthcare or education.” He believes that the United States should make diplomacy most central in our foreign policy.
