Rep. Ruben Gallego is running for Senate in Arizona for the seat currently occupied by Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ), who is not seeking reelection. Gallego was first elected to Congress in 2014 and has served the Phoenix area in Washington ever since. If elected, Gallego will be Arizona’s first Latino Senator. Raised by a single mom alongside his three sisters, he worked a variety of blue collar jobs before graduating from Harvard University and serving combat duty in Iraq.
A Marine Corps veteran, Rep. Gallego is a leading voice on national security issues. He is a member of the House Armed Services Committee where he is the current ranking member of the Subcommittee on Intelligence and Special Operations. His work involves retaining the United States’ qualitative military edge and employing U.S. military power only when necessary. Gallego also serves on the House Natural Resources Committee where he is committed to protecting Arizona’s water supply and natural beauty.
The November election will be unpredictable as both Rep. Gallego and conservative firebrand Kari Lake seek to sway voters, including those who had supported Sen. Sinema.
