Donate to Council for a Livable World Lucy McBath's reelection campaign

In one of the biggest upsets on election day 2018, Lucy McBath narrowly surprised an incumbent Republican to become the first Democrat to represent this district since it moved to Atlanta’s northern suburbs in 1993. The race was close, a 1% victory margin, and the 2020 contest is likely to be tight as well.

Prior to serving in the House, McBath was a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines for 30 years. In 2012, her son was murdered in Florida. Following her son’s death, she became active in the gun control group, serving as national spokesperson for one of the organizations. She also became active in politics, and spoke at the 2016 National Democratic Convention.

The Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Florida, where 17 people were murdered and 17 more injured, catapulted her in the congressional race in a district that had traditionally tilted Republican. Her 2018 opponent, Karen Handel (R), is back for a rematch.

McBath has voted perfectly on key Council for a Livable World issues.
