Mondaire Jones won a hard-fought, eight-person primary with 42% of the vote in this Westchester and Rockland County district. He is a former litigator in the Westchester County Law Department and worked in the Department of Justice under the Obama Administration.
A product of East Ramapo public schools, Mondaire was raised in Section 8 housing in the Village of Spring Valley by a single mother who worked multiple jobs to provide for their family. He later graduated from Stanford University and Harvard Law School.
Mondaire is a progressive running to fight for bold solutions to our biggest problems: a Green New Deal, tuition-free public college and student debt forgiveness, and Medicare for All. When elected, he will be the first openly gay, African American member of Congress.
Mondaire is a passionate advocate for a more progressive foreign policy for our country. He supports significant cuts to the defense budget, reinvesting in the State Department, and a diplomacy-first approach to U.S. foreign policy.
