Rep. Susan Wild has many firsts to her name, including the first woman to be appointed as Allentown City Solicitor and the first woman to represent Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District. In fact, as a first-term Congresswoman, she already has been elected twice in this Lehigh Valley district that includes Allentown and Bethlehem, winning in 2018 in a special election to replace a Member who had resigned and the same day to a two-year term.

This year she faces a candidate who was strongly backed by President Trump in the GOP primary. Indeed, the president visited the district in May, one of his many visits to a state deemed critical for the presidential election. Republicans are hoping to topple Wild in a district that in 2016 split evenly between the President and Hillary Clinton. The district is listed as lean Democratic.

Wild graduated from American University with a B.A. and George Washington University Law School with a law degree. She serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the Education and Labor Committee. On Foreign Affairs, she has focused on emphasizing diplomacy over wars, standing up for human rights around the world, rejoining the Iran nuclear agreement while negotiating further limits on Iran’s nuclear programs and advancing legislation to end sexual violence against girls globally.

She has voted against funding for a resumption of nuclear weapons testing and for extension of the New START nuclear weapons agreement.
